John Meilak will be leading a “Heritage Trail” bike ride, starting from Kevin Wheelahan Gardens in Devonshire Rd Sunshine, at 11am, and will take approx 90 minutes. Taking in some of the important historical locations around Sunshine. A heritage map will be give to all participants.

Ride report 15 riders assembled assembled to start this Sunshine historic adveture ride / walk. Due to inclement weather (ie rain) there were 10 riders able to complete this activity. An interesting tour through the area. So much history on our doorstep!

Description: Starting from the car park at Lilydale Railway station we take a road route to the start of the trail at Whitehorse Rd and Queen St. A short sharp climb gets us onto the trail which climbs gradually towards Mt Evelyn and onwards to Warburton. Return via the same route. Keep those legs spinning through this picturesque area as you train for the “Great Vic”

Distance: 16 klms approx 2 hrs return
Cost: FREE, BYO drinks and nibbles
Description: Meet at More Park in Ardeer where we head along the well travelled Kororoit Creek Path to Buckingham Reserve. After a rest stop we return via the same route. No on road riding, mostly flat ride, no big hills. Plenty of parking at the start.

Ride Report: Well, Melbourne turned on some terrible weather this year so not surprisingly there were no willing riders on the day. Ride cancelled.

Start: Caltex Servo, cnr Western Ring Rd & Sunshine Ave, Kealba, Melways 26 H2

Description: Heading off from the service station we follow the Ring Road Path till it meets Millers Rd. Then its down to Kororoit Creek Rd and in to Williamstown for coffee. We then make our way via the Maribyrnong River to Edgewater Estate where its “up and over that hill” and through the suburbs back to the service station.

Ride Report: 3 riders headed out on a glorious day and had just finished a loop of Cherry Lake and were heading along the foreshore to Williamstown for a coffee when disaster struck. One rider down, badly shaken and grazed - smashed helmet and out of action! Thank goodness for a sturdy bike helmet! Ride terminated and emergency car travel home.

Description: Meet at North Melbourne Railway Station where we head under City Link to Join the Capital City Trail across the top end of Melbourne and join up with the Main Yarra Trail near Fairfield. Continuing along till Burke Road where we’ll head along the “Koonung Creek Trail” to Blackburn Lake and surrounds for lunch. Then its south west along the Upper Gardiners Creek Trail to Alamein area where we’ll head to the Monash Freeway and follow the Gardiners Creek Trail, join up with the Main Yarra Trail and back to the City.
Bail out at Blackburn Station - distance approx 35 klms
Bail out at Alamein Station - distance approx 60 klms

Ride Report: 10 riders joined in at various points along the way on a cyclists “dream day” for cycling. Special thanks to Clare for her wonderful tour of Blackburn Lake and surrounds and a great coffee stop for lunch. Ride leader apology - it was only 70 klms OOPPS sorry!

Level: medium, prepare for “head or tail winds” on this flat ride!
Cost: free, byo nibbles, lunch money!
Description: From the service station we’ll head along the Western Ring Road path till we meet the Federation Trail at the tunnel in Laverton North at around 1100 am. Then its onwards to Werribee for lunch / coffee. Return via Federation Trail.
Sorry - NO BAIL OUT at Werribee station due to Track Maintenance - buses only Sat & Sun

Meet at the Caltex Servo and ride a scenic route to the Rose Creek Estate in Craig St East Keilor as part of the Sunbury Wine Festival. Wine tasting and lunch available on this family run estate. Return route is dependant on weather and rider enthusiasm.

Ride Report: 10 riders enjoyed a scenic and undulating ride along the Maribyrnong River and through the new Buckley Street underpass on the way to the Rose Creek Estate Winery. Pizza and pasta was enjoyed for lunch as well as tastings of the estate wine and olive oil all to some excellent local live entertainment. YES! some wine and glasses did make it home via bicycle.

Description: Meet at the Caltex Service station in Kealba, on Western Ring Rd and Sunshine Rd corner. We’ll ride via the Edgewater Estate to Docklands and then take a “Mystery Route” to Acland Street - St Kilda in search of the illusive “Polish Donut”.
Lots of options for return trip depending on weather, rider numbers and how many donuts we need to burn off. Minimum distance from servo to Acland St is 30 klms.

Ride Report: 10 riders headed out on a cool but glorious Melbourne winter day. From the City - Docklands-we headed down the Tram Line to St Kilda where many cakes / donuts were eaten. Several riders headed down to Richett’s Point (15 klms) and “trained it home”. Others returned via the same route (30 klms).
