Distance:      40 klms  –  some hills  & gravel trail in Woodlands Park

Suits:   Adults, maintained bike, no “bail out points”

Description:    Meeting at the Caltex servo it is an easy cycle along the Western Ring Road path to Gowanbrae where we’ll cross over the Ring Road and head down to the Jacana Wetlands and in to Westmeadows. A few short streets later we re-join and follow the Moonee Ponds Creek path in to the southern end of Woodlands Heritage Park and historical Homestead site. Lots of paths to explore and a viewing point to the end of the airport runways. Return trip can be varied to bypass that steep hill out of Jacana wetlands. Coffee, nibbles in the Woodlands Park cafe OR Westmeadows area (cafe).

When:    Sunday 18th October 2015

Start:    Belgrave Railway Station

Time:     1000  (approx. as some trains arrive at 1012 am)

Distance:      45 – 55 klms (approx).

Cost:       Free – need MYKI card and nibbles

Suits:           Adults, any maintained bike – Ride involves some HILLS and sections of road riding.

Description:   From the station our route explores the  Upper Ferntreee Gully to Blind Creek Path (Knox cycleway).  This trail heads to Knox City and eventually to the Dandenong Creek Trail and the option of a stop at Jells Park.  From Jells Park it is a rather hilly negotiation of some marked but local streets on the Scotchmans Creek Trail and then onto the Gardiners Creek Trail.  This final trail can be followed to Kooyong station  – distance about 47 klms for a “Bail out point”    but we plan to  continue riding to Flinders Street station – distance about 55 klms.

Brimbank City Council – National Ride to Work Day

 

When: Wednesday 14th October 7.30am-9.00am

Where: Tom O’Brien Park, Mathew Hill Reserve, Mathews Street, Sunshine VIC 3020.  On the new Sunshine Trail.

What: National Ride2Work Day is the largest celebration of commuter riding in Australia.

Held annually in October, the day celebrates the benefits of riding to work and brings together the communities that support it.

‘Join us for free community brekkie and activities including sausage sizzle and delicious healthy options. Victoria Police will be onsite engraving bikes to make them identifiable if stolen. Bike tune ups courtesy of Ray’s Bicycles, massages courtesy of Total Wellbeing Massage & Naturopathy’.

Sunbury Ride.

Description:         From the station we will ride around the  Sunbury area Trails to explore the country side.
