Description:  This route takes riders through Brimbank Park and along the picturesque Maribyrnong River Trail and into the city for coffee.  An easy 35 klm gravel trail with a short sharp climb out of Steele’s Creek area to a city lookout point.  A short detour near “Canning street” is necessary due to pipe works by Melbourne Water.

Description:       From More Park our route takes riders along the WRR path and veers towards Werribee where a short but rough path takes riders into the Werribee Mansion area for exploration.  Riders free to return to More Park or train from Werribee station or Williams Landing.

Report:     A great ride with interesting explorations of the Werribee mansion & surrounds.  Must return for the rose blooms in late spring.  Train home from Werribee.  Distance covered  40 klms

Description:      Starting from Craigieburn Railway Station the journey takes us on a short stretch of Craigieburn streets till we join the Craigieburn Bypass for an exhilarating 10 klm downhill coast to Cooper St Epping.  Across Cooper St and another downhill cruise  to the Metropolitan  Ring Rd in Thomastown and then Eastwards along to the Greensborough By Pass.  At this point the journey can be varied.  Into  Greensborough for more refreshments and the station for Rides end OR  join onto the Plenty River Trail, Main Yarra Trail and onwards to Banyule Flats and Heidelberg Station.

Report:   A tail wind aided the downhill coast to Epping for coffee stop then onwards with a few gentle climbs via Greensborough area along the scenic Plenty River trail.  After taking in the  wonderful views from viewbank the journey took us along the start of the Main Yarra trail to Banyule flats in Heidelberg for a light lunch.  Ride ended at Heidelberg station  –  distance 45 klms on a good autumn day.

Brimbug Achievements  2014

2014 was a very good year for improvements to cycling infrastructure in Brimbank.  Much of the work was built as part of the Regional Rail Link (RRL) and Brimbank council has continued to build both recreational trails and on-road cycling lanes.

Below are just some of the achievements that Brimbug was involved in – with the relevant stakeholders, RRL, Brimbank council.

1.  St Albans On Road bike lanes – 1.5 klms between Furlong Rd and Gilmour Rd and 600 mts of concrete Shared User path along the rail line to WRR path.

2.  Pedestrian bridge across rail line in Sunshine to H V McKay Gardens and Albion.

3.  Anderson Road RRL rail bridge –  path on both sides of the structure from Albion to Sunshine retail centre.

4.  South Hampshire Rd – On Road bike lanes.

5.  Opening of Station Rd, Deer Park Underpass on Kororoit Creek Trail.

6.   Power line easement between Mulhall Dve and Stradbroke Dve – 6oo mts of path.

7.  Re-construction of 400 mts of WRR path due to construction damage during M80 upgrade at Jones Creek, St Albans.

8.  Under construction – Forrest St path to Fitzgerald Rd – 3klm long
Sunshine to Tottenham – 3.5 klm of path into Ashley St, West Footscray.

Further works are planned as part of St Albans and Ginifer rail crossing upgrades.

Description:   From the railway station our route takes us across the top of the city area to start the outer circle loop clockwise.

Report:      Nth  Melb station loop return to Southern Cross railway station – distance 43 klms.  Capital City trail linking to Main Yarra trail, Anniversary Trail (Outer Circle) and Gardiners Creek Trail.  Great riding in good Autumn weather.  A popular ride.
