Description: Riding across the city we join the the Main Yarra Trail at Fairfield and head in to Westerfold Park (Eltham area) and beyond to the Maroondah Aqueduct Trail which we follow to its end near Diamond Creek. Train from Diamond Creek to own destinations. BE WARNED – Route envolves some hills at the approach to the Aqueduct Trail start. A very picturesque area for exploration..

Report: 7 riders on a crisp but clear Autumn morning. 2 pesky punctures, 1 bruising tumble but all in all a very enjoyable day exploring this picturesque part of outer Melbourne. Ride finished in Diamond Creek. Distance covered 48 klms.

Where: FLINDERS STREET STATION ON THE LILYDALE – BELGRAVE PLATFORM
When: TRAIN LEAVES AT 0907 for Lilydale and change trains at Ringwood
Distance: 45 – 50 klms (approx).
Cost: Free – need MYKI card and refreshments.
Suits: Adults, any maintained bike – Ride involves some HILLS and sections of road riding.
Description: After meeting on the platform we “train ride” to Ringwood Station & change trains for the Belgave line for the start of this ride. We make our way from the station via Upper Ferntreee Gully to Blind Creek Path (Knox cycleway). This trail heads to Knox City and eventually to the Dandenong Creek Trail and the option of a stop at Jells Park. From Jells Park it is a rather hilly negotiation of some marked but local streets on the Scotchmans Creek Trail and onto the Gardiners Creek Trail. This final trail can be followed to Kooyong station for rides end – distance about 47 klms. Cyclists may choose to continue riding to Flinders Street station.

Distance: 45 klms
Suits: Adults – CAUTION APPROX 8 klm LOOSE gravel surface. Not easy on skinny tyres.
Cost: Free, need MYKI card, refreshment money
Description: From the Caltex Service station start we head into Brimbank Park and follow the “newly re-opened” and iconic Maribyrnong River Trail into Docklands area for coffee / refreshments. A picturesque route with a short sharp climb to a lookout point into the valley and wonderful city views before descending to follow the river course through Pipemakers Park and into the city. Many rest spots. BYO nibbles till rides end. Riders free to choose own route home. Close to Southern Cross station or cycle route return.
