Lots of options for return trip depending on weather, rider numbers and how many donuts we need to burn off. Minimum distance from servo to Acland St is 30 klms.

Ride Report: Well Melbourne weather gave a typical “winter treat”. x5 riders coasted with the elements to Docklands where a hot drink and warm up was in order after x2 flat tyres delayed our progress. Ride terminated here due to afternoon commitments. Those donuts still beckon.

Description This ride we’ll head along the Western Ring Road and on to the Deer Park Bypass – “Wellness Trail”. From there we’ll head in to a rather new coffee shop situated on Caroline Springs lake. Then its a return to the start point via Kororoit Creek trail.

An easy, medium ride with no hills

Description: x5 riders took the challenge and found a “new route” safe and not too convoluted as there are yet more roadworks and path closures scheduled for the WRR path – this time from near St Albans Rd to Ballarat Rd. The “wellness trail” provided a stiff head wind and a brief shower but a hot drink at the new cafe on Caroline Spring Lake was just the tonic for the return trip following Kororoit Creek. A rather chilly but exhilerating ride – distance approx 40 klms.

Description After meeting at the service station we’ll head along the Western Ring Road path and turn off onto the trail towards Princess hwy and along to Millers Road. Depending upon traffic there is the option to follow the Altona wetlands to Williamstown OR Kororoit Creek Rd in to Williamstown. Great cafe lined up for morning stop. Then we plan to explore a new route home instead of following the river route.

Ride Report: x5 riders travelled to the Newport Wetlands (off Mason street, Newport) via the WRR path and a small detour to check progress on the freeeway link Millers rd to the city. The link path is not completed. Newport wetlands is a beautiful area for walkers, joggers – SORRY NO BIKES AND POORLY SIGNPOSTED AS SUCH. We then headed via the Altona wetlands in to Williamstown for that cafe stop. Then a stiff head wind in to Footscray station and a train home. Ride distance from start point – 45 klms.
