Reconciliation Ride – “Brimbank shire celebrates Reconciliation Week”

Where: “The Hunt Club”, Ballarat Road Deer Park.

Finish: Overnewton Castle off “Old Calder highway”

Distance: 15 klms via Brimbank Park

Description: Meet in Deer Park and ride along the WRR bike Path. The ride is an easy 45 minutes to Brimbank Park. At the park there will be activities and information around the significance of this area to the aboriginal community.

From the park the cycle route takes in the side streets and service road through Keilor village to Overnewton Castle. This section could be a little hilly for some people but don’t be put off as it is not a race and any hill can be walked. Overnewton castle grounds is a lovely spot for lunch and finishing the ride.

Ride Report 12 riders (including police escort and first aid back up) completed this event starting at the Hunt Club. Riders followed the WRR path to Brimbank Park and after an official ” welcome” and historical ride through Brimbank Park the ride proceeded onwards to Overnewton Castle. Riders joined other “walkers” for this reconciliation event and were provided with a very generous lunch. The ride and activities were enjoyed by all who attended. Weather was excellent and distance covered approx 20 klms.
